sustainableSFU asked me to help define and improve the branding and communications of the organization and their various events and initiatives.

This included updating their existing logo with cleaner, more professional type in keeping with their existing tree-branch logomark and developing a unified communication framework of typefaces, layouts and color schemes throughout other marketing materials.

Logo Re-design

The only part of sustainableSFU's brand that existed when I began working with them was their logo, which they wished to keep largely intact in order to keep the profile and recognition it already had with their clients and partners. The logo did need updating however as the original logo featured indistinct, muddy type and a black text with brown leaves color scheme that often led to colleagues joking that their tree looked dead.

I updated their typeface with a much crisper, modern typeface that more cleanly linked with the typeface used by the university and other partner organizations they did business with and gave them a brighter, high-contrast color scheme of forest colors similar to the mountainside outside their offices.
